Tigers Fall 34-27 to UAPB in OT
JACKSON, Miss. – Trailing by 11 entering the fourth quarter, the Golden Lions (2-2, 1-0) completed the comeback when LeEarl Patterson ran in the winning touchdown on a one-yard plunge in overtime to lift Arkansas-Pine Bluff to a 34-27 conference victory at Jackson State on Saturday night.
KeShawn Willams ran 11 times for 73 yards and a touchdown, Patterson added 66 passing yards, 34 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns on the night and the UAPB defense combined for four sacks and held the Tigers offense to 295 total yards of offense. Patterson’s first touchdown on a two-yard run and subsequent two-point conversion pass to Kolby McNeal with 13:10 left in regulation cut the deficit to 27-24. After a Jackson State (0-4, 0-1) punt, UABP kicker Jamie Gillan tied the score on a 33-yard field goal with 15 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
Jordan Johnson had 19 carries for 130 yards and a touchdown and Deion Pope made 13 tackles to lead the Tigers defense.
